Sat Ages 7 – 14 yrs Young Art Studio, 10:00 – 12:00 | 19 Sep – 24 Oct
This is a 6 week long course for the Young Art Studio course running in Block 1 of the Autumn Term 2020. It is suitable for learners between the ages of 7 and 14. Please provide your child with an art shirt or apron and hand towel to bring with them to the class.
Times and Duration
Each class is 1 hour long, running weekly from 10am till 12noon on Saturdays. The course is taught during term time, for a duration of 6 weeks, ending at half term. The schedule can be found on our Term Timetable (please see the Term Time & Holidays link above).
The Young Art Studio course explores a different theme from term to term with a focus on developing the drawing skills of students. Throughout the term we encourage utilisation of an abstract artistic process including research, experimentation, skill development and ideation in order to provide students with core drawing skills which we believe are hugely important in the development of their visual language.
The Young Art Studio course employs a high tutor-to-student ratio to ensure that each student and their specific needs are catered for. Students study drawing, painting and collage, using a variety of fine art materials. In addition, students are exposed to, and able to use, our pottery facilities, as well as exploring printmaking and use of our very own etching machine as a means of exposing them to as much of the creative process as possible.
At the end of each block, students will go home with a workbook documenting the research that they have done, their experimentation, the skills they’ve developed and ideas they’ve conceptualised. Students attending both Blocks 1 and 2 will work towards a final project consisting of a large-scale print or sculpture.
Included in the price
The price of this class includes all material and firing (for work in clay) costs.
Try one class
If your child would like to try one session before deciding if he or she would like to join us for the course please email email@example.com for more information on availability and pricing.
Please note that due to increased safety measures the participant numbers for this class have been dramatically reduced. This will enable everyone to work together safely in the studio whilst practising social distancing. These smaller class sizes also give our art teachers the opportunity to provide more intensive personalised tutorage within the session. This also enables us to be as inclusive as possible as we are able to provide more individualised learning and support – something that will make engagement better for everyone.
All children will wash their hands upon entering the studio. We also provide hand sanitiser at the front door. When dropping off or collecting your child, to allow for social distancing, we ask that you wait in the street outside the studios (call buzzer 5). A member of staff will meet you there when you arrive.
We keep class sizes small to allow for social distancing. We trust that if any learner or anyone in their household is exhibiting symptoms of Covid 19 or has had a positive Covid test, the learner will not be attending. Please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org if this is the case. It may be possible to re-arrange attendance for another class once the self isolation period is over.
Due to the smaller class sizes/nature of the classes we will be providing these in 6 week blocks. If you book a full block of 6 lessons you will be able to take advantage of the discount, bringing the per class price down from £20.00 to £18.33. This is reflected in the block price listed above. You are very welcome to book for both consecutive blocks of classes and if you do choose to do this the discount applies to both blocks – effectively providing you with a full lesson for free.
